Exploring an Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Piece of Feces on a Quest to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and players have discovered plenty of entertaining independent titles. Yet, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure includes a hero that is truly a turd attempting to travel to a toilet. In case you're wondering, "Unko" translates to "poop."

Player controls is easy to grasp: just use a single jump button. In numerous levels, you'll face tough enemies and visit a shop to acquire outfits for your poop character.

Execute your jumps carefully, as a error requires starting over. Bounce on bubbles to propel the poop to new heights, cross fragile surfaces, and touch triggers to open hidden paths. Gather UN-KOINS and use them on tougher stages where gameplay ramps up.

In terms of design, the game features eye-catching environments and a killer background music. The retro graphics with moving geometric shapes may remind gamers of classic titles like Earthbound.

Even though tough to think of similar titles where you play as a coiled turd, video games frequently featured scatological themes. For instance, in Death Stranding, players make throwables from protagonist waste. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ feces as fertilizer. Unsurprisingly, such content shows up a lot in the adventure The Stick of Truth.

Despite its goofy idea, Unko Technica has already received impressive recognition, like being named best at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. A playable preview is available now on Steam, with the complete version planned to launch on PC on November 19.
